Get to Know Us
A MAJOR BAND started when Leslie Davis and Ed Blackman decided to start a band in 2020. Unfortunately, the idea was delayed due to the pandemic. During this process of playing the waiting game Leslie met Luis Rey at the local guitar center. The vibe between them was great and they exchanged numbers. A few months later Leslie, Ed and Luis began rehearsing together to see if the vibe was real, and indeed it was! They needed a Bassist to add to the mix and God stepped in and Leslie ran into John Wallace, Leslie's colleague from years ago at a local store. The music department was set, but still missing something. They added three singers, Tameka Hardison, Madeline Gomez and Desiree Davis which added a great blend of talented performers. Derrick McCarty was added to the band in 2023. Derrick, a long time friend of Leslie, brings an array of talents to the mix along with his high energy performances. Chrystal Davis, wife of Leslie, joined the AMB team in the early part 2024.

Tameka Hardison
Lead Vocalist
Tameka is a Louisiana native who's musical career started in the church. She is also a clarinetist and has performed with the world famed Grambling State University. Tameka also earned her Masters of Political Science degree at Southern University of Baton Rouge where she provided a plethora of musical performances with a live band. She currently is a Houstonian who continues to perform at many of venues with AMB.
Desiree Davis
Vocalist
Desiree aka "Brown Sugar '' has been singing since the age of 10. She grew up listening to R&B groups such as Dru Hill, Destiny's Child, SWV and others. She loves all types of music genres. When she’s not singing she loves to cook. Desiree is also a certified Chef and can throw down in the kitchen!
Luis Rey
Guitarist
Luis Rey aka "Sweet Lou" has been playing guitar for more than 30 years. Some of his musical influences are Norman Brown, Carlos Santana, and Van Halen. When he is not playing guitar, he enjoys spending time with his family.
Ed Blackman
Keyboardist
Edward Blackman aka "Eddie B" has been playing the keys since the age of 11. Musical influences are Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Ray Charles and Herbie Hancock. When he is not touring with the band, he enjoys creating and producing music in the lab.
Derrick McCarty
Sound Engineer/Vocalist
Derrick aka "Dj Mr. Polo" was influenced by the legendary Michael Jackson and groups like New Edition, The Time and Prince & The Revolution. Derrick’s music career started at an early age at a local high school band. He became a Rap Artist/Producer, with the release of 2 albums in 2004 and 2006 under his self owned record label and recording studio Da Block Entertainment. With years of experience in the entertainment industry, Derrick has become one of the most demanded Dj’s in Houston.
Leslie Davis
Percussionist
Leslie aka “Rico” has been playing drums since the age of 14. He grew up listening to Michael Jackson, Jackson 5, New Edition, and all of the Motown greats. His influence of Michael Jackson led to his musical talents at an early age. Rico earned an Audio and Video Technical Engineering degree in 2020.
Chrystal Davis
Booking Manager
Chrystal earned a Bachelors of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies, minoring in General Business Administration degree in 2017 and a Masters in Non-Profit Management degree in 2019 at the University of Houston. Her love for music led her to A Major Band in April 2024. She utilizes her business savvy skills to conduct all operational management for AMB.
